(acm/mps) Klaus Rheinberger, the chairman of the “Liselott Schindling Stiftung zur Förderung des Dressurreitsports” handed over the Otto-Lörke-Preis 2003 to Isabell Werth and Satchmo, Madeleine Winter-Schulze, the owner, and Wolfram Wittig, the trainer, during the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS, the 19th international riding and show jumping competition on Saturday. Every year, - this year already for the 20th time - this award is given by the Deutsches Olympiade-Komitee für Reiterei (DOKR) to the rider, the trainer and the owner of a not more than ten year old dressage horse which has been placed for the first time in high ranking Grand Prix de Dressage on the 1st to 5th position in the course of this year. The Otto-Lörke-Preis was initiated by Liselott Rheinberger, the Olympic winner, who died in 1999.
Isabell Werth will be honoured as a rider for the seventh time this year, for Wolfram Wittig and Madeleine Winter-Schulze, it will be the first award as a trainer and an owner. Satchmo, the 9-year old gelding, won in the Grand Prix und Grand Prix Special against great competitors five times in 2003 (e.g. the European team championship in Hickstead) and was highly placed several times. For him, the title is worth a ton of oats.
