(acm/mps) „60.000 plus x“ was the dream objective which Klaus-Dieter Heldmann, the managing director of the Stuttgarter Messe- und Kongressgesellschaft mbH, had announced in the run-up to the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS, the 19th international riding and show jumping competition. On Sunday afternoon, Heldmann had a very good reason to smile. 60.000 visitors watched the decisions in show jumping, dressage, four-in-hand, vaulting and eventing as well as the numerous shows on the five competition days. “The x is very small, but we have reached 60.000, and are very pleased about it”, Heldmann said happily. “When we started in 1985, we had exactly 30.445 spectators, this has been the base that we reached a million this year.” According to Heldmann, a unique coolness indicated the carrying out this year, so that sometimes, he had asked himself: ”Am I at the riding competition?” But he had an explanation for the perfect carrying out: „This is due to the fact that people at the top like Gotthilf Riexinger or Hauke Schmidt have been with us right from the beginning.”
Riexinger; the competition director, drew a positive summary: „We can be very happy about the sports results so far and about the feedback from the audience and the media.“ Without any doubts, this is one of the reasons why the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS with Mercedes-Benz, the Allianz and the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg have been able to count on three loyal and top-class partners for so many years. “I think that when we will close the gates of the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in a few hours, we can say that we have experienced five fantastic days in Stuttgart, the sports town“, explained Dieter Wahl from the Allianz and announced: “We have been here for the eighth year, and have been agreed during these days, that there will be a ninth year for us in any case.” Martin Kuon, the representative of the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, was also very pleased: “From our point of view, we have seen a very harmonious competition and great sports with known and – what is very important for the future of the sport – with unknown winners. This competition is very firmly integrated into our company, it is probably our most important sponsoring engagement. This can only be achieved by an absolute top class product – which is the case with the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS.“
