(acm/mps) The 21-year old Patrick Maurer won the dressage cup of the iWEST company with a big lead on Thursday morning. With Quickfire, a 10-year old gelding, the man from Bad-Friedrichshall gained 1421 points in the traditional Baden-Württemberg test which is part of the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS, the 19th international riding and show jumping competition, and, thus, clearly relegated Markus Zellner (Mannheim-Friedrichsfeld) on Rubina (1467) as well as Claudia Kaiser (Kaiserhof) on Fürst Charly (1454) to the places. “I was very lucky this weekend with two pleasing rides”, said the beaming winner, for whom his performance in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle was a special event. “The atmosphere here in Stuttgart is magnificent, the conditions are just perfect“, said Maurer who is studying real estate management in Geislingen.

Gotthilf Riexinger, the competition director, also praised the winner highly. “Congratulations to Patrick Maurer, who had two superior rounds and, therefore, has established himself back amongst the top riders. He also has a top horse with Quickfire.” Dr. Dorothe Meyer from the iWEST company, the main sponsor of the dressage cup 2003, was also very enthusiastic. “Our engagement is based on many contacts to very good clients in Baden-Württemberg on the one hand. And on the other hand, because of Stuttgart being the nicest indoor competition anyway. We are very happy that we can support this competition.” The overall enjoyment about the course of the dressage cup 2003 shared by all participants was also due to the fact that Pieter van der Raadts’ Machiavelli who had been severely ill, was better. After the opening test on Wednesday, the 15-year old gelding suffered from a colic and had to be operated. Today, the veterinarians have been able to spread good news: Machiavelli is already getting better.
