(acm/mps) “We are glad that Isabell Werth is back in Stuttgart in 2003. We are satisfied that she has returned into the first league after some hard times after Gigolo”, explained Gotthilf Riexinger, show director of the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS, the 19th international riding and show jumping competition, on Thursday afternoon. But not only from the sports point of view, Isabell Werth (Rheinberg) will be from now on a real enrichment for the Equestrian sports highlight in Stuttgart. “As she is now a self-employed businesswoman and has to earn her own livings, we would like to support her and make use of her knowledge and her great experience at the same time”, said Riexinger. “Therefore, Isabell will be incorporated into the promotion of our competition in the future”.
She is very happy about the offer to incorporate herself into the Stuttgart competition even more, said the dressage queen. “This is very easy, as Stuttgart is really the best indoor competition in Germany, if not even in the world. As you know, I am a member of the Aachen committee, and now the circle will be closed, as I will be committed to the nicest outdoor and indoor competition.” Klaus-Dieter Heldmann, the managing director of the Stuttgarter Messe- und Kongressgesellschaft mbH, the organiser of the competition, is also very glad about Werth’s engagement. “I am also very satisfied that we could win Isabel over this task and I am expecting a lot from this engagement.” Furthermore, Heldmann is very glad about the spectators acceptance of the world’s best indoor competition. “Only two weeks ago, we have been far behind with the advance booking figures compared with the previous year. But now, we are only around 2.000 tickets behind. As the sale at the box offices is going very well, - probably we will be also sold out on Thursday evening – I am very confident that we will still reach the level of the previous year.”

Jeroen Dubbeldam (The Netherlands), the Olympic winner, also loves to participate in Stuttgart. “I am here for the fourth time, and it is always something special. “This competition is outstanding because as far as the foreign riders are concerned, only the top riders participate”. Dubbeldam has a big aim. “Two years ago, I came second in the Grand Prix, and I would like to reach this again or maybe even do better”, said the Dutchman. Dubbeldam twinkled and added that he could drive very well, after Klaus-Dieter Heldmann had asked him about his driving skills in allusion to the winner´s car with the star. After De Sjiem, the Olympic horse, was injured last year, the white horse has nearly again reached his top form this year. “In this season, he has already performed well in three World Cup jumping competitions, I would like to really attack with him here on Sunday”, announced Dubbeldam, after he had won the opening show jumping test for the Preis der Firma Bardusch Textilmietdienste on Balaboeska, the 10-year old mare, only a few minutes before.
In 2003, the event riders proved again that the STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS is not only the “nicest” (according to Isabell Werth) but also the most varied indoor competition. They were absolutely enthusiastic about their performance in front of a large audience in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle. Kathrin Krage (Isterberg), who had won the derby eventing test for the Preis der Dietz Fruchtsäfte on Wednesday evening, did not hide her happiness at all. “Last year, it was already great, but this year, the mode has improved, therefore, the spectators were better informed and could follow the test much better. It was great fun to ride here.“
